quickbooksIf you own your own small business, or even if you work for a larger corporation, chances are that Quickbooks is used to keep track of the finances. The software is a product of Intuit, a company who has been at the forefront of computer software since its inception in 1983. The company’s first successful product, Quicken, is a device used to achieve individual financial management, but the founders quickly looked to expand their services.

Quickbooks was devised as comprehensive accounting software that could be used by people with virtually no accounting experience. From managing A/P and A/R to keeping track of the payroll, Quickbooks has simplified the accounting process for small business owners everywhere. You can even circumvent the bank by printing your own Quickbooks business checks.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — General Motors is considering repaying all of its $6.7 billion in government loans in one lump sum, rather than through quarterly payments as currently planned, Chief Executive Ed Whitacre told journalists during an online press briefing Tuesday.

The loans are only a small fraction of the roughly $50 billion of direct support the automaker received from the U.S. Treasury as the government worked to keep the company from going out of business over the last 12 months.

Treasury received 61% of GM’s common shares in return for most of the money, as well as $2.1 billion in preferred shares in order not to burden the company with too much debt as it came out of bankruptcy.

Does peachtree have different styles vs. quickbook checks? Yes, they do. You have 4 different styles that can be customized. All of the peachtree checks are Checks In Middle. They have different layouts. Its way different than quickbooks for sure. Peachtree is more of an true accounting program b/c it will give you the exact amount of your profit. Quickbooks, gives you an average, not the actual true amount.

Peachtree checks have a stub at top, check in middle, and another stub on the bottom. sample 1You can still get them in alot of different styles and colors. Just look for the one that will suit your business.

Templates for Quickbooks

I’ve been asked alot of different questions, but this one really stands out. What kind of template can i use with Quickbooks. Quickbooks can print your business checks in 3 different ways. Checks on top, Full page of checks, or laser wallet checks. Each of those has the same template style. Theirs only 2 that is the most popular.

Quickbooks checks print with the lines on them for all of the different styles. The other style is no lines, but signature line only. The template or layout is the same as its for personal checks. You can add a color logo, black and white logo, no lines, sig line only, with lines, or 2 signature lines on the checks. Theirs not too much you can do, because of the laws and the bank requirements.

How do I print business checks?

1. You would need to purchase a check printing program that will be able to print the bank information. VersaCheck Platinum is one of them that is very good to use. It will be able to print personal and business. You’ll be able to scan your checks into the program and it will copy the bank information (routing number, account number) and etc…

2. Its recommened to use a Laser printer to print the checks onto. Make sure though that your printer is compatible with a MICR cartridge.

3. Purchase bulk blank checks. Such a wide variety of business checks that are out there. So many to select from for marble style, wave style, lattice and etc….

4. After you have printed a few checks, take them to the bank and ask them to do a test on them. That way it will make sure it will go through their system just fine. If something is wrong, your bank could reject the check, and possibly have you to encure an additional fee.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Bank of America said late Wednesday it planned to return the entire $45 billion in bailout money it received from the government over the past year.

The move would allow Bank of America, the nation’s largest lender, to wriggle free from a variety of government restrictions it has had to abide by, including pay caps for its top executives.

It could also smooth what has been a difficult search for a new chief executive.

Outgoing CEO Ken Lewis is scheduled to depart by year end. Bank of America’s board of directors originally hoped to select a successor by Thanksgiving. This dont affect your personal or business checks.

How to profit when buyers are broke

How does a florist sell more in this economy? We changed our business to designing weddings and events only, as the everyday flowers are not selling. We had to throw out too much product at the end of the week — flowers are perishable!

As budgets get tight, people are spending less on luxury items — which means retailers in that market also need to clamp down and mind the bottom line.

Flowers’ short shelf life mandates that you control buying and adhere to a strict formula, says Keith Riewe, owner of Bice’s Florist in Fort Worth, Texas. The industry standard rule is that the wholesale cost of your flowers should be one-third of what you sell them for, he says.

The moment you realize you’ve got product left over, it’s time to cut your orders, says Riewe. Although many florists pay less for flowers by using a standing order, it’s often more cost effective to customize your orders. You’ll pay a little more, but you won’t be throwing unsold flowers away. It’s better to run out than to have unsold product, he says. Some florists have hybrid ordering systems that consist of a smaller standing order, and a separate, supplemental order when necessary. When your business checks get low, you can have a reminder from your supplier.
