Dont forget to do your monthly update on your Peachtree Software. By updating the peachtree software, you’ll be able to have fixes that might cause problems or update the new tax guides. You can set peachtree quantum by sage,  to check every 30 days if you like.

Its always a great idea to do updates checks, just like you would with windows operating systems. You dont want any bugs, or something to mess up your accounting.  If you upgrade to the latest software for the year, it could provide you with alot of new features that is an asset for your business. Wouldnt it be good if you could see what particular item, that your customers order and who it was. The new peachtree 2010 software allows you to do that.

Buying in bulk will save you money

If your purchasing large items that you use alot, buy it in bulk. If you buy more it will cost you less in the long run. Example. Buying printed checks at a min of 250 qty, can cost $.15 each vs 3000 qty, at $.08 per check. Same thing for bulk blank checks or paper for your business. It may cost a little more for shipping, but it will still be cheaper.

Its always good to buy from a vendor that you have a great relationship with. That way, if you need the item quickly, and they know your a repeat customer, it can be shipped same day or next business day. Ask your vendor if they can offer you any discounts once you reach a certain amount of sales. Some business actually does that.

About Peachtree

Brief History of Peachtree by Sage

1970s

The Computer System Center (TCS), founded in 1976 by Ron Roberts, Steve Mann, Mike Jones and Ben Dyer, was Atlanta’s first computer store where the accounting software, Peachtree, was created. Retail Sciences, Inc. purchases the accounting software that becomes Peachtree Software.

1980’s

Peachtree Software makes a secret deal with IBM to create the accounting software bundled on the first IBM PC. The first IBM PC ships August 12, 1981 and Peachtree Software is included.

Peachtree Software is purchased by Intelligent Systems, who lowers the price to $200 and sells it via a direct marketing ad in the Wall Street Journal – beginning an innovative revolution in small business accounting software.

1990’s

Peachtree introduces the first accounting software for Windows in 1991. Peachtree acquires One-Write Plus and launches Peachtree Office Accounting, the first open architecture accounting software for small businesses.

Automatic Data Processing (ADP) acquires Peachtree Software in 1994, and sells it to The Sage Group, plc in 1999.

2000’s

Sage introduces the Peachtree industry vertical solutions for accountants, construction, nonprofits, distribution and manufacturing.

Sage introduces outsourced payroll services and Direct Deposit services for Peachtree customers.

Sage introduces Peachtree by Sage – Quantum, an affordable next step accounting solution for companies that have outgrown the capacity of the current Peachtree product line or other similar small business accounting solutions. Peachtree Quantum has introduced new functionality and scales to 40 users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose Peachtree over QuickBooks?

Peachtree products provide robust functionality in inventory, job costing, time and billing, fixed assets, and Internet tools. In addition, Peachtree products are strong and flexible in system accounting functions, such as Double Entry Accounting, Import/Export, Fiscal Year Structure, Security and Posting Options. Peachtree  accounting products also provide advanced analysis tools to help small businesses make informed decisions on a daily basis. Peachtree Quantum will allow the conversion as well.

Can I convert my QuickBooks data myself, or do I have to pay someone to do it for me?

Peachtree by Sage 2010 includes a QuickBooks conversion utility that is designed to make it easy to convert your QuickBooks data yourself. The simple wizard format steps you through the process and explains each of your options.

How much of my QuickBooks data will be converted?

Peachtree will convert both lists (such as customers, inventory items, and accounts) and historical transactions (such as invoices, receipts, and deposits), although payroll transactions cannot be converted.

Can I choose to convert only some of my QuickBooks data?

Yes. You can choose to convert lists and transactions, lists only, or even transactions from a specific date.

I don’t use account numbers in QuickBooks. Am I required to set these up before I can convert to Peachtree?

No. During the conversion process Peachtree will automatically create account numbers, or “account IDs,” for any QuickBooks accounts that do not have them. You are able to review and edit these account IDs during or after the conversion.

How much time will it take to convert my data?

The amount of time required to convert data varies greatly and depends on how much data will be converted and the speed of your computer. You can expect an average size database to take up to an hour to convert.

Do I need to install Peachtree on the computer where QuickBooks is installed?

Yes. Peachtree must be installed on the same computer as QuickBooks because portions of the conversion require QuickBooks to be running. Once the conversion is complete, you can place the new Peachtree company file in any local or network location that Peachtree can access.

Will all my payroll history convert?

Payroll transaction history in QuickBooks is protected in such a way that the Peachtree conversion utility cannot convert it. The conversion process makes it easy for you to set up your payroll in Peachtree by guiding you through the steps of setting company deductions and year-to-date earnings.

Can I convert from QuickBooks 2003?

No. Peachtree 2010 will only convert from QuickBooks 2007 through 2009.

Can I convert Quicken?

No. Peachtree 2010 will only convert QuickBooks Pro, Premier, and Enterprise.

Dont forget to have business insurance

Dont forget to have your business insurance. Having insurance is a great way to make you rest easier. What if you have a fire, or natural disaster from weather. If you have the insurance, it will save your business, instead of paying out of pocket for full replacement. PLUS a great thing is that with your insurance, you can ask to see if you loose your daily pay….see if it will cover that as well so you can have income coming in while your replacing your items.

Insurance will cover so many items and can be a great thing to have. I went through a tornado and i didn’t have the insurance coverage but was lucky that it didnt destroy the business. I make sure i have it now and i buy extra in case i need it. If your office has all of your accounting supplies, the insurance will cover your business checks, to your accounting program (peachtree quantum), and etc….

Even though many transactions are quickly and easily completed with debit cards these days, a checkbook remains indispensable. Tenants who pay monthly rent are likely familiar with this reality; checks are by far the most preferred method of payment among landlords. The same is true of person-to-person payments such as child support and alimony, which don’t feature a merchant and a customer.

In the past, some people have been put off by the relative blandness of the average check. We’re all familiar with those standard blue or green prints that lack any vestige of personality. VersaCheck software provides a remedy for the blasé blue check. This software allows users to customize their checks according to personal tastes and hobbies. VersaCheck produces all the essential features to get your check accepted by any bank, and it also eliminates the need to order a new supply.

Its great to have a business or personal checking account at a bank. It give you alot of privldges to do your business that you need. Its important to keep an account open. Its ok if you dont like, or trust your bank, but just keep a small amount in the account tht its in a posivie balance. You never know if you need to acutally use that account to cash a check. What if you get laid off at work, and receive a severance package. You cant cash that large check at walmart. So to prevent fees, keep an account open.

Dont open and close, open and close accounts at the same bank. Its ok if you do if its fraud. WHY? If its not fraud, and you open and close new accounts, it will flag the security department, and they will flag your SSN or business tax ID number. So if you need it, you wont be able to use it no more. Having a checking account is a wonderful privilege to have. use a good accounting program to keep your self in the positive balance. Finding cheap business checks will help your business expenses as well.

form-1000-258Did you know that their are different ways you can do quickbook checks. Quickbook, quicken, MS money, can use the check on top that is most common, or the full page of checks. You can have them ordered with the lines, or no lines, but with sig line only. When your ordering the business checks, dont forget to get the envelopes to go with your checks. Its easy to find cheap business checks.

If you have a color logo, why not add them onto the business check. It will make it look more professional and get attention. Just make sure it has the VOID pantograph on the check to prevent fraud. Take your checks that needs to be mailed, to the post office box, rather than putting them into the mail box.

online bankingWhen your doing your business banking, security is always the most important thing to keep in mind. Security pertains to your check card, business checks, how you receive your bank statement, online banking, user id, and password. When using your business checks, make sure they have alot of security features on the check. See if when you make a copy of the check, that it has the VOID pantograph on on the check.

When using your online access, create a user name that is easy to remember, but very hard for someone else to hack, same way with your password. Best thing is to use upper and lower case numbers and letters to make it complex. Change your password around every quarter for added security. Same way with your check card PIN Number. Best way to receive your statement is via EMAIL. If your business is on a hwy, someone can come and get the mail and you wont even know it, and now they have your account information, and can use it for fraud, that will cost you alot of money.

When your establishing a new business, is a great idea to really get to know your vendor and the representative.  The more you get to know them, sometimes you can get a better deal on products, but especailly when your their top customer too. One great reason is good to your rep is in case you have a problem, you know who you can go to for additional help with a problem. Getting someone to help you with a business problem is always wonderful to have on your side.

If your customer is ordering business checks , and something goes wrong, the vendor will be liable for it, not you, and you wont have to spend more money on the same order. If your vendor does blind drop ship, it will show your customer that it comes directly from you, and they have no idea that it was done by an outside source. Having a vendor to do the heavy and large work allows you more time to do other important things.
