Check security is very important. More security you have, better protection you have against copying the check info and re-duplication it. Business checks should come with the basic security information.
Customizing your business checks can be fun. What time of the year is it? If its Memorial Day or 4th of July. You can order blank check stock and add it into your current stock. Why not have the checks for special occasions or holidays. We are waiting on one for Christmas, but havent found one yet LOL
Doing your own check printing can save your company time and money. How? Well if your using a special program on a server, and your doing rebates, then it will make it special. Just so you have the MICR toner and you have done a test with your bank to make sure it works. Making sure it works with your bank is very importnat that it will past its test. If not…then you could be paying for a manual processing of each check.
(Fortune Small Business) — Last month I wrote about Debbie Dusenberry, owner of Curious Sofa, a home-furnishings boutique in Kansas City, Kans. The store has a reputation for great products and imaginative display, and its revenue had been growing nicely for eight years.
But when Dusenberry sent me her financials, she included this plaintive note: “Our January was down 20%, and for the first time I am a little worried….If I had any reserve, I wouldn’t be nearly as concerned….[We're] cutting back anywhere we can by freezing spending, and I laid off my first employee in eight years.”
Dusenberry’s financials explained clearly why her business has potential – and why she’s in trouble. The store’s annual revenue has grown to more than $800,000. Her labor costs as a percentage of revenue are a little high, and she probably needs to lay off another employee. The rent isn’t terrible, although I think she can get her landlord, who clearly doesn’t want to lose a tenant in this economy, to cut her a break. But here’s the thing: Her statements show that she’s lost money eight years in a row. Shes needed to order checks so that she can track her expenses with.

When I first started my cake decorating business, I thought I could expense all my supplies and pretty much everything related to my company with cash and poorly written notes and chicken scratch I put on the back of receipts and Post-Its. My mom, ever the accountant, laughed at me and suggested that I purchase some

Jim Hays, president of Wachvoia Retail brokerage units, says brokers like the new link Wells Fargo.
Wachovia revamped last yer and stocks picking, ITs web site on the hother hand, ranked the lowest in the group, with a clunky search tool and dowdy layout. A re-design is in the works. It will cover the search, personal checks, business checks, and alot of other features.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (Fortune Small Business) — Last September, Polly Liu started having serious doubts about her wedding favors company, Beau-coup.com. During the previous six years, Liu, 36, had grown the online-only retailer into a 30-employee, $10-million-a-year operation. But with the economy entering a miserable patch, she wasn’t sure it made sense to stay in a business that catered expensive happy occasions.
Instead of firing staff or cutting product lines, Liu decided to go for broke. She increased her spending on Google (GOOG, Fortune 500)’s AdWords service, which places those targeted text ads that the world’s most popular search engine serves up alongside its results.
Liu had begun using AdWords soon after Google – based down the road from her office in Mountain View, Calif. – released it in 2002. “It really helped us get off the ground,” she says. “I’d always wanted to try it more, but we’d been too busy.”
For the next six months, Liu increased her AdWords spending to more than $25,000 a month, twice its previous level. She bought more search result keywords, such as “tea party favors” and “Las Vegas wedding favors.”
The outcome: Beau-coup’s sales via AdWords doubled in the same period, while the amount Liu pays to bring each customer to the site has dropped by 20%. The company’s overall growth was around 50%. Google, says Liu, is the main reason for the growth. “It’s the only marketing channel we’re putting more money into,” she explains.

In an effort to spur new vehicle purchases and protect the environment, Congress has approved legislation to offer consumers $4,500 for trading in their gas-guzzling clunkers in exchange for newer, fuel-efficient vehicles.
Dubbed the “Cash for Clunkers” bill, the legislation was approved on May 5 by Congress and is headed for the House. The bill would be active for one year after it is signed, and would fund up to one million new vehicles. This could cost anywhere between $3 billion and $4 billion.
With auto sales down 30% from 2008 and #3 auto maker Chrysler in bankruptcy, Mike Moran, a spokesperson at Ford Motor Company (F: 6.26, 0.3982, 6.79%) said the legislation couldn’t come at a better time.
“With sales down, at this point, it’s an urgent need to pass this legislation,” said Moran. “It’s pretty significant that you have President Obama and house leaders coming to a compromise and moving forward, and we hope to see a similar action in the Senate.
Moran said the trade in incentives were a win-win on several counts, due to their capacity to stimulate the economy through sales and put help the environment by putting more fuel efficient cars on the road.
The concept of a monetary incentive for a junky trade-in has been around for years in foreign countries, including France, England and Germany. In Germany, sales of new, fuel-efficient cars went up by 20% once the program was enacted, and individuals like Moran are hoping for the same in America.
“We’re anxious to see how things pan out, because there’s been success in many other countries,” Moran said, pointing to Germany’s incentive of around $3,200 that helped to spur Germany’s economy.
“Seeing that it’s been successful in other countries, its clear that people in the political world regardless of party are encouraging those benefits and would like to see that opportunity here in the U.S.,” said Moran.
In March, President Barack Obama mentioned the Cash for Clunkers program in conjunction with restructuring plans for General Motors (GM: 1.65, -0.18, -9.84%) and Chrysler, but got lost in the din of worry over saving the two of the big three. The bill was also slowed by environmental concerns over whether people could trade in their clunkers for SUV-like vehicles and concerns over whether or not the new cars would be American-made.

When you’re launching your own company, it can seem like there are a million things you need to consider. From where you want your office to how many people you want to hire as staff, there are a lot of important decisions to make in a short amount of time. And with that kind of stress and time constraint, it’s easy to forget about little things like office supplies. But after the main issues of a business have been sorted out, success becomes a lot about appearance.
Once you can offer a solid and reliable service or product, winning new customers is about impressing people. If you want to succeed like a successful business, you have to convince people that you’re a successful business. So make sure that all the little details of your business are covered. This includes making sure the office is always stocked with enough business supplies. From check envelopes to notepads, every office should have these necessary, day to day products. These little things will help add up to a successful big picture.
