I am receiving the error message; “Cannot find SPState.xml file…..” when attempting to open my Peachtree Quantum company after installing the Service Release on my server.  How can I correct this issue?

Answer
This error occurs when you have already updated the server to SR-2, and you start Peachtree Quantum 2009 on a workstation that does not have 2009 SR-2 installed.

On the server:

1. Go to Start, Run in Windows XP, or press the Windows logo key and the letter “R” in Vista or Windows 2008 Server.
2. Type services.msc and press Enter
3. Find Peachtree SmartPosting 2009 on the list of Services. Right-click on it, and click Stop on the shortcut menu.
4. Leave the Services.msc open.

On the workstations:

5. Close Peachtree on all workstations.
6. Go to http://www.peachtree.com/html/updates_available.cfm
7. Choose your version of Peachtree Quantum.
8. Select 2009 Service Release 2.
9. Click on “Download Service Release Update Now”
10. Save the file to your desktop or a location where you can easily locate it.
11. Double-click on the Service Release executable.

PTX2009SR2.exe (Quantum), PTXA2009SR2.exe (Quantum Accountant’s Edition).

Note:  There may be short delays during the update process.  Do not cancel or launch Peachtree until the full update process has completed.

12. Follow steps 6 – 11 on all workstations.

Note: If the SR2 was attempted previously and does not install when following these steps, you will need to edit the registry settings and reinstall. See Answer ID 21501 for instructions on how to do this.

On the server:

13. Once you have successfully updated the workstations, return to the server and restart the Peachtree SmartPosting service.
14. Right-click on it Peachtree SmartPosting 2009 and click Start on the shortcut menu.
15. Close services.msc.

Inventory and shipping

Using either UPS or Fed ex are both a good choice for your business. Having your inventory on hand, getting the products shipped same day, and making your customers happy will benefit your business as as your accounting. Its important to make sure you have what you need to run a successful business. You have a order to come in, you don’t have the merchandise, the customer has to wait, that’s not good.

I’ve dealt with Dell. They have good products, but if you ordered one of their computers that is customized. It will take about 3-5 weeks before you’ll get your computer system. Their other products are shipped pretty quick. I have ordered a customized product and was shipped in the same week. That was great service. If its a bulk box of checks, or pens, and its shipped same day. WoW. that is awesome. I can always go back and depend on them to ship it same day with out no calling and asking like i had to do with Dell. Some of the products was delivered by UPS, and others by Fed Ex. Make sure your customers know what they are buying, and the shipping charges for their products/services. Make sure you have a great accoutning software to handle everything you need to do for your business. I would recommend Peachtree Quantum.

What to do with your tax refund?

Whether your getting your personal tax or business tax refund, what would you do with the extra cash? If its persona, you’ll more than likely pay off bills, go shopping, or save it for a rainy day. If you have a busines and getting money back, most business re-invest the extra money into the copany. You could upgrade your accounting program, buy more business checks, deposit slips, or envelopes.

Another good idea is to buy more inventory, and let that inventory, make you more money. You could even give your employees a small bonus. Theirs so many ways to use the tax refund money. A good recommendation overall is to put some of it aside into your business savings account.

Record keeping is always important to have for paper trails. Writing business checks is always the best way to keep up with transactions. That way, when it clears your bank, you can make a copy of the cleared check. You never know if you need to pull up the old check for a problem. Using peachtree software is a very great tool to use, along with the business checks.

Peachtree is very precise and their isnt no way you can cheat the system for the monthly reconciliation records. It will ask everything you need to do so you can have good records. I had ran into a problem that the cleared checks saved my butt big time. I was given the wrong reference number for payment, and i had to pull the cleared checks to show it was paid. So the corrected the mistake and it was cleared up easily.

Having an e-commerce site is a risky business. So…you want your business to thrive and grow great hugh? Well very simple rules will help to make your business grow successfully. Have a great business plan. Have a very good, SEO work to be done one time. Initiate doing blogging, newsletters, bookmarks and a Press Release. Along with having a good accounting software for your business that is essential, but having your inventory on hand all times is important as well

Once you get the the blogging and newsletters going. It can take up to 3 mths on average before you’ll begin to see customers come to your site. Every time you do a blog, newsletters, your adding LINKS that goes back to your site. More you do. More links you have out there, and the search engines will see how important it is, and your rankings will go up.

Ok that is good and fine. but i’ve said before its important to have your inventory in stock so when you do get a sale, you’ll be able to ship your order by the end of the day before UPS or Fed ex comes. Every time a customer orders, they will know that you ship same day. WoW.. They will come back for sure because they know your prices are great and they can expect their order on time or early.

Little things add up to alot

Little things with having a business does add up. As you keep up with your inventory control, payroll, bills and etc…. You cant forget to keep up with how many business checks you keep on hand as well. Alot of accountants forget the small things that add up. When your ordering business checks, make sure you order enough to last you a while. Dont order business’s checks that are for 2nd day air or 3 day express. That will cost you more money.

Not only that, but what if it takes the company on average 3-5 days for processing, but you need them next day. They may not be able to live up to your expdectations. If they do, it could be an extra charge. Use your company that you’ve ordered from in the past. They can work with you and fuful your order and get it quickly. Its all about customer service and making sure you have enough to do your job with, and not make it harder. So…it is a little thing that can add up to alot.

Professionalism at a Minimal Cost

starting_a_businessStarting your own business is always a scary endeavor. There can be a lot of upfront costs, and there is never any guarantee that your business will be a success. But if you don’t take the risk, there’s no chance that you’ll create that one amazing success story. Just think how the world would be different if the group who launched Amazon or Google or Microsoft hadn’t decided to try their hand at owning a small business. The best thing, therefore, is not to avoid starting the business altogether but to do so in the smartest way possible.

Instigating a smart business plan means keeping your upfront costs to a minimum. You want to appear as professional and established as possible in order to incite confidence in your potential customers. Without breaking the bank, this will stop your business from collapsing before it even has a chance to get off the ground. One thing to consider is ordering some cheap business checks. These often contain your company logo and information, which makes you appear professional for a minimal cost.
