The earliest bank checks started around 17th Centruy.  There are a few spellings like check, checque, and cheque.  Starting from the 1800′s cheque is a standard in UK, Ireland, and the Commonwealth.

There are a different parts of a check.   They include place of issue, check number, date of issue, payee, currency amount, signature of the person, routing and account number.  Most banks keep a check valid for 6 months.  Who knew we have been dealing with bank checks for so long.
